Assignment # 9

Dear Diary,

Yesterday, I just arrived in the new continent America. I got a house right away. Somebody warned me about patriots kicking people who are loyal to the queen, In America. I just ignored that. I thought it was just some homeless crazy old man. I went on, I settled down in my new house. I wrote many letters to England, and eventually somebody found out that I cared about the queen of England. I was then sent somewhere you would NEVER ever imagine. I had to go up to a country up north. The country's name was Canada. I should have kept those letters a secret because I knew someone would find them eventually. I guess I should not have ignored that crazy man that stopped me that early day. When I arrived in Canada, I had to live in someones house. I had put a lot of thought into what was happening to me, maybe I just should not have arrived in this new place so early after all.

In that man's house there were quite a few fellows. All of them were loyal to the queen.
It was weird to me how all of these "American Patriots", or however they named themselves could show such disrespect to our loyal queen. I talked to one of them; I asked how long we'd have to stay in that mans house. The person replied, unusually loud: "I Have No Clue!".
He sounded a little bit out of his mind. I guess that can happen to a person who has just been kicked out of HIS own house in a NEW continent. I could not imagine what a royal family person, or anybody who's worth more than just a normal person would do. I guess that would stay a mystery in my head. But oh well, those are just the least of my worries, I'd have to find a way to get out of this place.

Later that day, I heard two men talking how they could escape. That topic sounded quite interesting to me, so I decided to interrupt them:"Hello men, I was just wondering, are you really going to escape from here?". The men looked at me in a strange way, and then replied that they were. I also asked if I could go with them. They said I could, but I'd have to keep it a secret.
We were trying to think of a way not to be seen while we escape, because we were afraid of going inside a cell, or EVEN WORSE, being hanged!

After a 8 full hours of thinking, we decided to escape right before everybody wakes up.

It was finally time, it was our desteny to make it to the next ship leaving for England. We had to catch it or else we'd get caught, then hanged. There was a lot of people on that dock, waiting for a BIG, BIG ship to arrive. I do not know how everybody is going to get on.

We pushed a few people to get to the front of the line. And "Just in the nick of time" the amazingly big ship arrived. We got on with no troubles or anything.

That being said, that wasn't the end of this story, if you thought it was, "BOY" I hope your ready to read A LOT more about this adventure. "Emphysis on "BOY".

It was announced on the ship that "Three white men had escaped from a Canadian House". That was no worry for us because we had changed clothing, and no one would realise that we were those very same two rebels.

After getting home, I told my whole family about me and those men, who had escaped the house, and how we were kicked out of the 13 colonies. I had a good time getting home. I think that's enough for you to read, and I hope you really learn a lesson from my mistake: LISTEN TO CRAZY PEOPLE!

Yours Truly,

Victor

Interviewerer: Hello Ronaldo!, I know that YOU are EXETREMELY skilled in soccer, what I want to know is, how do you get to do all of these tricks, and how did you win the World Cup.

Ronaldo: Well man, I practised for a long, long time.

Ronaldo: How I won the World Cup, well luck played a HUGE role in those soccer games. I also think that our team had a nice game, and passed a lot.

Bonus Post # 2

The thing about blogging is, that it is a lot of fun on a theme of history. We always get to use the computer for anything we wnt to research on history. We get to sometimes even listen to music. I find that EXETREMELY awesome and I hope we continue blogging until the rest of the year, and after that in grade 8. I think that to keep blogging, we must not waste Miss Pollock's patience, and not talk a lot. We should also not do anything on the computer that's off topic.
Our teacher Miss Pollock has a blog we could all look up to, and read all the assignments that come right away on the same day.

If you look on her blog, you could see all the blogs that from all of the classes that are doing blogging. We could also add Miss Pollock's blog to our blog list.

Thanks for reading this if you have,
Do not forget to POST A COMMENT!!!!!

Bonus Post

This is an extra assignment, or a bonus post I am going to do. I think for the past two months, Miss Pollock had done A LOT of work.. and has tried REAL hard to do the best for us to have fun in both, Math and History. She let us make posters and let us do Blogging for history, which is the funnest thing I have EVER DONE IN SCHOOL. I think we should somehow pay Miss Pollock for going through all this trouble just to make it perfrect for us. Maybe one of the things we could do is throw her a suprise party sometime. I was also thinking about telling about our School's blogs on YouTube, if you have an account, you can post a video response to someone saying "Hey, Check out our school's blogs, It's about history and you might like it"! I think if we advertise our school's blogs on YouTube, Facebook, Myspace, AOL, Metacafe ect. we could get a lot of followers, and a lot of people who could tell THEIR friends about blogging, and this thing would spread out the whole world like that. Ofcourse, only we can do that, not anyone else. So I advise you to get off the couch, stop watching TV, and start advertising History Blogs this instant! Also if you do that you could always get A LOT of extra marks because of doing this. Well So will I when I publish this post and tell Miss Pollock about it.

Assignment # 8 - The Interview

So Louis, I heard you died, now i'm woundering, how did you die, someone killed you or you died out of old age?

Riel: I died because some one assasinated me. That was back in time, although it was not fair

Riel: What??

Riel: Well now I understand what your saying, sorry for acting like that, but I don't understand all of the things you say in the future.

Alright, I know what you mean. Let's get started . If you were alive still what would you do? And if you could live forever, what would you live for?

Riel: I would live for the freedom of the world, and I'd want to experience a lot of things, I'd like to fly in the new kind of plane.

What would you do if all of the other people that were alive before, were alive now, was there anyone you hated?

Riel: No I did not have enemies, but there was some people that I had to ignore.

Riel: Alright I think that's all the time I have. Thanks for the interview

Ok would you say that you had a long life to live?

Riel: Well, um after I was assasinated my soul was taken out of my body, atleast I think so, so It was kind of real, and I guess that was a part of life. I'd go with yes. But there are some things I'd like to accomplish some things.

What kind of things?

Riel: Urrrghh this is starting to get kind of annoying, didn't you do your research?

Riel: Ok, Ok, I wanted to do what I started, you know, help black people get out of slavery, like most of the other great people.

Ahh, I see, well thanks.

Anything else you'd like to say before we go?

Riel: Oh yes, if you see a family guy episode that includes Meg in it, tell Peter Griffin that she's cooler than he thinks she is. Oh and also tell Stewie that he wouldn't be able to take over the world.

Assignment # 7

Many things we take for granted today — fixed prices, price tags, money-back guarantees — came from the fertile brain of Timothy Eaton. In 1869, he founded what was to become the T. Eaton Co. Ltd.: in its day, the largest, busiest, brightest retailing and mail-order enterprise in Canada. Through brilliant organization and innovation, Eaton surpassed all of his rivals and created a Canadian institution. A man of determination, he made his name synonymous with service and reliability. Personally devout, Eaton shaped his business according to the Methodist creed of honesty, self-reliance and hard work. He had no time for unions.

a) The most interesting category of the Canadian Personalities was all of the smart people, especially Timothy Eaton. I found it interesting also that he made his own company, not alot of people have the money, or the guts to do something like that.

b)This is the picture I found of my Canadian Personality, I find it cool because he looks like one of those really smart guys who is willing to do anything to impress someone!

c) Mary Brant, I chose her because she is a girl fighter, and you don't see any of these anymore.
James Wolfe, was a general, I think he is cool because people from the army are very stricked and know disipline.
The last man I chose was Arthur Lismer, I chose him because he was an artist, and my mom is an artist. I think some of the work artist do is really cool and colorful.

d) I had the most common with is Jack Cartier. He has the most common with me because he is an explorer who loves exploring alot, just like me. I like him, but not the most. That's why I think he has the most common with me because he has the same kind of hair and eyes too.

e) I will be remembered for making the blog, and posting all that information, I think that people will use the information I post, and will be reading this in 100 years. I think they will print all of the pages with information from my blog, and will use it as a textbook. That's what I think I will be remembered for.

Assignment # 6
Portia White was born in the town of Truro, Nova Scotia. She went from singing in her father's African Baptist church choir as a child to performing around the world as a concert singer. As a teacher in rural Halifax schools, Ms. White was able to realize her potential through support of Ladies' Musical Clubs and the Nova Scotia Talent Trust. One of her last major appearances was at the 1964 opening of the Charlottetown's Confederation Centre for the Arts, where Queen Elizabeth II was in attendance. Portia White was also a great woman because she fought for the blacks and helped some of them survive during the slavery. I also think she was great because she was woman who fought against bad people and rascism, and that's the best thing you can do out of the worst situations. When you're in a situation like the black people at the time Portia White was alive, you'd really need someone like her, because you can learn alot of things from her, and you could get a lot of help from her, just like all of the other black people. We celebrate Black History Month, and I think that her name will be, and if not should be remembered and respected for what she has done and how she has helped other people. She is just like great president Obama.

It's Really cold - Assignment # 5

People wonder why Europeans didn't leave Canada after a whole winter.
My personal opinion is that people where used to that kind of winter, because in Europe it is as cold as Canada. I know because I've been there for a long time. A reason they might survived is that houses In America were built out of wood, and wood keeps you warmer throughout the whole winter.

Even if they had no fire, I'm sure they collected wood before the winter started, and got a lot of food because, they saw that a cold winter was coming. If they had to dig for wood, maybe they used dogs for that kind of job, and maybe the dogs did get to wood and helped Europeans to carry it. For food, I think that the aboriginals helped the Europeans hunt for it, and then shared the loot.

The only reason I think they stayed is that because they invaded or took over the Aboriginals land and also like the Spring, Summer, and Fall.

The reason my family came to Canada is because, my dad's parents, and relatives had gone to live in Canada in 1990. Then my dad felt that he should see, them, and we decided to move to Canada. We also thought that it would be a little more safe in Canada. Since in Bulgaria there is some crime going on. It is an official country and it is doing good though.

Thanks - Venci

Assignment # 4 - LInking Back To Your Peers!

I thought that Dillon's blog was great because he mentioned about the world being corrupt and stuff. I think he did a great job and there was alot of detail in his work and writing. His blog also looks pretty well and I left a comment on his blog. You should also make a link that can take you to your friends blog so that whenever somone sees your blog, they could see more great blogs like this yours, and they will be able to go and read more information if you missed something.
You can also list all of your classmates blogs so that people can see everybodys blog and can go and read from others blogs. If you have anything that might help me improve this assignment, please comment under, and tell me what I should have done better.

2109

I think that in 2109 the world will be pretty clean, no global warming, and tons of cool stuf like, teleborting tubes, that take you to your work, cars that can fly, and robots that can clean your house while you're gone. Alright that's the least I can say about the future so that's why i'll write a little more about it. In 2109 I think there will be no global warming since the technology would be way upgraded and people would be able to fly in cars and spacecrafts without any gas or any kind of other gas solution that threatens the air around us, and goes up to the arctic. I think that people will also let out animals from zoos' and will send them back where they belong, and somehow help them out there, and plant food so the animals that are in danger would have more chance of survivial. I think that clowns will be a lot funnier in 2109, and a lot less scarier than now in 2009. I think that president Obamas' son will be the president of the United States Of Amereica, and I think that he will be making great changes just like his father. I hope that people by then would have found a liquid, or drink that can make people live forever. I also wish that it happened before, so I would still be alive, and I will be looking alive and well and young. I hope that in 2109 you still play dodgeball in gym class, I don't know why, I think kids or teens should have freedom. I also help that these games of dodgeball would have gotten better, so when you throw a ball, it can fly slower if you want it to, and you can move the direction it flies with your eyes. I also hope that video games got a lot less violent, and a lot more sports like, I think of that because if you play violent games like Halo 3, or by then Halo 100, you will not have nice thoughts in your head. Also, I hope video games become healthier somehow, and not that unhealthy. I think I wrote enough about this, I hope you enjoy reading it, and if you think I should have done something better just leave a comment and tell me. Also if you see any spelling mistakes please correct me, and write a comment, how I should spell the phrase. Thanks, Venci

View Miss Pollock's History Blog!

I think that everyone should go to Miss Pollock's History Blog, that' s where most people get their due date information from. The link to her blog is:
http://historypollock.blogspot.com/ . If you go there you will be ahead of everyone else and you will be able to do all your assignments first.

I also think that Miss Pollock has done enough for us, linking to our blogs, letting us do blogging instead of reading a boring textbook, so I think we all should take the time to leave a nice comment on Miss Pollock's blog.

You can also link to her site, for a source of information on your assignments, because it actually helps to have a blog that gives you instructions on your assignments, and if you have the abilities or chance to advertise blogging, you should make a video and post it on Youtube, just to let people or friends know what kind of great source Miss Pollocks and our blogs are. You can make a video and post in on Youtube easily, if you have troubles you can just ask me or Zaid, because we already know how, and have a lot of videos on Youtube. And also if you do that, or just take the extra quizzes and the extra websites Miss Pollock has linked to, you might just get an extra mark on your report card. Cool hhuh?

About Me

Hi, my names Venci, and this is my blog. This blog was made in the beginning of 2009. This blog is about history. I think I have done a pretty done job, despite that I have some assignments overdue, or that or not that good. Now about me: I'm 12 and i'm from Ottawa ON, Canada. I go to a school called Fielding Drive Public School. I am in grade 7, and I'm learning history in a great new way by blogging that information on my blog so I can remember it. I also go and search through the Internet in class, and at home, to see information about our assignments. I think this way of studying is better, and easier, because sometimes history can get a little boring when you're just reading it from a textbook. I have to thank Miss Pollock for letting us do this kind of fun stuff, and I hope we continue to do it in grade 8. Thanks, Venci

Welcome

Welcome to my blog, have fun reviewing all the information i'm going to post. I hope you learn something from my blog, my name is Venci, and I go to Fielding Dr. Public School. I am not going to make my blog all fancy, I just want to welcome all comers to the awesome blog I made. I think the blog I made is cool enough for people to comment on it. I put some effort on it in my own time, and worked on all of my assignments. Thanks!

Alright, I have improved my blog, done all the assignments, and some extras too.
I think that I have done a great job, I don't like the fact that in grade 8, we wouldn't be able to blog, or would we be? I don't know.
